Harry Bratt, a Graphic Designer based in Staffordshire, England. Since graduating from Leeds Arts University in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Graphic Design, I have cultivated a design practice specializing in Branding and Editorial Design where I’m driven to produce visually striking and contemporary work that effectively develops and articulates the intended core message. My approach involves a significant emphasis on exploring different avenues and experimenting with emerging possibilities within the ideation process. This iterative approach enables me to identify the most optimal conceptual and aesthetic outcomes.

01 Paul Nicholson Interview

This editorial project, developed for the university brief 'Creative Report' presents an investigation into the collaborative practices of contemporary British designer Paul Nicholson (specializing in Logo Design, Typography & Graphic Art). The report employs the fundamentals of editorial design to visually communicate research findings on navigating the intersection of graphic design and music through artistic collaboration.

02 Inner Exploration Outdoor club

The objective was to establish a welcoming brand identity and design promotional materials, including infographics and advertising, for an upcoming trail running event. A cohesive theme was implemented across all brand elements through consistent color palettes, typography, and a contemporary aesthetic. This resulted in a unified brand identity where all outputs seamlessly integrate, whilst effectively communicating the upcoming event across various platforms, including video, invitation cards, and merchandising.

03 Vivian Maier’s Fashion Homage

This self-initiated university brief, titled ‘Pastiche and Homage in Present Contemporary Fashion: A Conceptual Exploration Through Modern Design Tools,’ investigated the enduring relevance of Modernist techniques within a Postmodern context through the application of pastiche. The project focused on creating a visual homage to the extensive candid street photography of Vivian Maier, a posthumously recognized artist who documented everyday life in mid-20th century America. Utilizing contemporary modeling software (Blender), I created a series of layouts displaying Maier's imagery and placed onto an umbrella, a symbolic reference to her profession as a nanny, served as a recurring 3D structure. These were then integrated into a shirt design using a repeating pattern that showcased the various angles of the umbrella imagery. The final outcome juxtaposes a homage-based concept with modern digital tools, creating a dialogue across different artistic movements and frameworks within a contemporary garment format.

05 Apophenia Case study

This university brief explored visualizing a chosen word through an opposing format. I selected "Apophenia," the perception of patterns in random events, which can relate to states like delusion. The project aimed to visually represent this intangible concept using design and a personal case study informed by Klaus Conrad's Rorschach test research on mental states. Analyzing responses from over 20 participants, I created silhouette-based boxed designs representing recurring interpretations. These were developed into a full print pattern and subsequently applied to a checkered shirt, using the pattern's perceived connections against the shirt's structure to create a visual dialogue.

06 Santu Band identity

I was approached by Santu, an emerging Indie/Rock band from Birmingham to create album artwork that would provide a visual representation of their current musical releases. The design process involved using the individual track titles as inspiration for the accompanying imagery. A consistent mysterious and eerie aesthetic was intentionally employed to mirror Santu's signature dark and unique sonic identity.

07 Azure Salon Branding identity

For the launch of Azure Hair & Beauty, a Hair and Nail Salon in Hixon, Staffordshire, I was commissioned to develop a foundational logo and branding. The design strategy prioritized a calm and graceful aesthetic, manifested through smooth linework in the logo mark, a tranquil colour palette, and a complementary typeface selection. This approach successfully captured the essence of the business. The original logo, alongside the defined colour palette and typography, remains in active use by Azure Hair & Beauty, underscoring the effectiveness and enduring relevance of the initial branding work.
