Editorial design
Research report
This project is a professional redevelopment of a university brief titled ‘Creative Report,’ which involved interviewing artists and designers within a chosen industry to produce a comparative editorial design piece. Revisiting my initial interview with British designer Paul Nicholson (Logo design, Typography, and Graphic Art), a feature article suitable for magazine or publication was created. Since graduating from Kingston University, Mr. Nicholson has cultivated extensive experience within the fashion and music sectors, producing influential designs for prominent musicians and labels such as Aphex Twin, Skrillex, Warp, and Global Communication.

The interview explored the topic of ‘Navigating design collaboration within another artistic medium,’ specifically focusing on the translation of musical sound and mood into visual formats. The design approach for this publication was intentionally minimal and functional, aiming to enhance the interview content and accompanying imagery through considered layout choices. Adhering to editorial design principles, the feature effectively presents Mr. Nicholson's process for music collaborations and visually showcases his work with various artists. The resulting piece combines a sleek, minimalist aesthetic with key insights into achieving outstanding collaborative outcomes.
